CVE-2026-41292 is a resource-consumption vulnerability in NLnet Labs Unbound affecting versions up to and including 1.25.0. The flaw is triggered when Unbound parses excessively long lists of incoming EDNS options in DNS queries. Processing these oversized option lists causes resolver threads to spend excessive time parsing the options and constructing internal data structures, allowing attacker-supplied queries to tie up worker threads. Under coordinated attack, this behavior can significantly degrade resolver performance and lead to denial of service. Unbound 1.25.1 fixes the issue by limiting the number of acceptable incoming EDNS options to 100.
