CVE-2026-41637 is a low-severity denial-of-service and service degradation vulnerability in NLnet Labs Unbound affecting versions 1.22.0 through 1.25.1. When handling DNS-over-QUIC queries, Unbound does not properly account for client-terminated requests associated with already in-flight resolution queries. An attacker can send DoQ queries for names that require resolution and then immediately terminate those queries using QUIC stream or connection termination mechanisms. Because these terminated queries continue to inflate the internal count of waiting replies for the in-flight resolution, Unbound can incorrectly believe the waiting-reply limit has been reached. Once that limit is exhausted, new client requests for the same already in-flight resolutions may be silently dropped, degrading resolver availability for legitimate users.
