CVE-2026-41842 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in Spring Framework affecting applications built with Spring MVC or Spring WebFlux when serving static resources from the filesystem with versioned resource support enabled. The flaw is in the static resource resolution path, specifically involving slow resolution behavior associated with versioned resources through VersionResourceResolver. Crafted requests can trigger pathologically slow filesystem resolution operations, causing each request to hold an HTTP connection open while resource resolution completes. Because the vulnerable logic is shared by Spring MVC and Spring WebFlux static resource handling, repeated malicious requests can consume the application's available HTTP connection capacity and prevent normal request processing. Affected versions include Spring Framework 7.0.0 through 7.0.7, 6.2.0 through 6.2.18, 6.1.0 through 6.1.27, and 5.3.0 through 5.3.48; unsupported versions are also affected.
