CVE-2026-41856 is an improper access control vulnerability in Spring for GraphQL's annotation-detection mechanism for @Controller data fetchers. In affected applications, annotation resolution can fail for controller methods defined through type hierarchies, including inherited methods in abstract classes or generic interfaces where bridge-method handling is involved. As a result, method-security annotations used for authorization decisions, such as @PreAuthorize or @Secured, may be silently ignored at runtime. Affected versions are Spring for GraphQL 1.0.0 through 1.0.6, 1.3.0 through 1.3.8, 1.4.0 through 1.4.5, and 2.0.0 through 2.0.3.
