CVE-2026-41898 is a memory-safety flaw in rust-openssl, the Rust bindings for OpenSSL, affecting versions 0.9.24 through before 0.10.78. The issue is in the FFI trampolines used by SslContextBuilder::set_psk_client_callback, SslContextBuilder::set_psk_server_callback, set_cookie_generate_cb, and set_stateless_cookie_generate_cb. These trampolines passed the usize length returned by a user-supplied Rust closure directly to OpenSSL without validating that the returned length was less than or equal to the size of the mutable output buffer (&mut [u8]) provided to that closure. If the closure returns an oversized length, OpenSSL may treat bytes beyond the actual buffer as valid output, resulting in out-of-bounds reads, potential buffer overflow conditions, and unintended disclosure of adjacent memory.
