CVE-2026-42264 is a prototype pollution gadget vulnerability in Axios affecting versions 1.0.0 through 1.15.1. In the Node.js HTTP adapter, several configuration properties are read through direct property access without guarding against inherited prototype properties. As a result, if Object.prototype has been polluted elsewhere in the same process, Axios can inherit attacker-controlled values for configuration fields including auth, baseURL, socketPath, beforeRedirect, and insecureHTTPParser. This turns otherwise ambient prototype pollution into a request-manipulation primitive affecting outbound Axios traffic. Depending on which inherited property is abused, the flaw can cause credential injection into requests, redirection of relative requests to attacker-controlled destinations, SSRF via Unix socket access, execution of attacker-supplied redirect callbacks, or weakened HTTP parsing behavior. The issue was fixed in Axios 1.15.2 by preventing these configuration reads from traversing the prototype chain.

A critical-severity vulnerability in Axios affecting third-party dependencies used in Atlassian products.
A separate Axios HTTP adapter prototype pollution read-side gadget allowing credential injection and request hijacking, mentioned as related history.
A prototype pollution gadget-chain vulnerability in Axios's Node.js HTTP adapter and config resolution that allows polluted Object.prototype values to influence outbound requests, enabling credential injection, request redirection, SSRF via Unix sockets, arbitrary code execution during redirects, and insecure HTTP parsing under the stated precondition of prototype pollution elsewhere in the same process.
