CVE-2026-42492 is a Xen hypervisor vulnerability in the domain-state tracking logic used to keep Xenstore informed about domains appearing and disappearing. The issue was introduced with the XEN_DOMCTL_get_domain_state operation. Management of the bitmap backing that operation is tied to binding the VIRQ_DOM_EXC virtual IRQ, but an error path in that binding logic can tear down the bitmap even when it was never successfully set up. Because an unprivileged guest domain can trigger the faulty error path, the flaw can disrupt Xenstore’s ability to maintain an accurate system view and can destabilize host management functionality.
