CVE-2026-42504 is an algorithmic-complexity denial-of-service vulnerability in the Go standard library's mime.WordDecoder.DecodeHeader function. When decoding an invalid RFC 2047 encoded-word fails, the function preserves undecoded input, consumes and emits the initial encoded-word marker, then resumes parsing. A MIME header constructed from numerous invalid encoded-word prefixes followed by a terminating encoded-word marker causes quadratic or near-quadratic parsing behavior and excessive CPU consumption.
