CVE-2026-43760 is a confused-deputy authorization flaw in macOS Screen Sharing. The issue affects screensharingd and its privileged SSFileCopySender and SSFileCopyReceiver helpers when a client authenticates through the legacy VNC password mechanism. Unlike native Apple Screen Sharing authentication, this path does not resolve the remote session to a macOS user identity. The file-transfer helpers can consequently retain root authority rather than operating with the authenticated user’s permissions. A VNC-authenticated remote client can abuse the sender helper to read protected data and the receiver helper to create attacker-controlled root-owned files. Apple addressed the issue through improved access restrictions in macOS Tahoe 26.6 and macOS Sonoma 14.8.8.

An access-control vulnerability that could enable an application to access user-sensitive data.
Post-authentication improper access-control flaw in macOS Screen Sharing's legacy VNC path. After authentication with the legacy VNC password, SSFileCopySender can execute in the root context rather than the authenticated user's context, enabling arbitrary root-privileged file reads and writes.
A logical authorization flaw (confused deputy) in macOS Screen Sharing that affects Apple Silicon systems and can let an authenticated VNC viewer read protected files and create arbitrary files as root, enabling root remote code execution under the described conditions.
