CVE-2026-44575 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in Next.js App Router applications. Affected applications that depend on middleware or proxy-based authorization checks can expose protected content through alternate transport-specific route variants used for React Server Components and segment prefetching. The flaw is caused by incomplete middleware matcher handling, where canonical protected routes are matched but certain App Router variants, including .rsc and segment-prefetch forms, can resolve to the same page without triggering the intended middleware rule. As a result, an unauthenticated requester can reach content that should have been gated by middleware-based access control. Reported affected versions include Next.js 15.2.0 through 15.5.15 and 16.0.0 through 16.2.4, with broader reporting also indicating affected 13.x and 14.x lines in App Router deployments relying solely on middleware for authorization.
