CVE-2026-44748 is a critical XML Signature Wrapping vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP and ABAP Platform affecting signed XML processing in SAML authentication workflows. An authenticated attacker with low or normal privileges can obtain a valid signed XML message and submit a modified XML document to the verifier in a way that the signature check succeeds while the application processes tampered identity content. The issue is consistent with improper verification of cryptographic signatures, where a signed XML element is validated but a different attacker-controlled element is consumed by application logic. Successful exploitation can cause acceptance of falsified identity information and undermine trust in signed authentication assertions.
