CVE-2026-44892 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in Netty's HTTP/3 codec affecting Http3ConnectionHandler and related HTTP/3 header processing paths prior to version 4.2.15.Final. The default configuration does not enforce a maximum header field section size when the peer does not explicitly advertise HTTP3_SETTINGS_MAX_FIELD_SECTION_SIZE. In that case, the implementation falls back to an unbounded limit, allowing processing of an enormous number of HTTP/3 headers. A malicious client or server can exploit this insecure default to drive uncontrolled memory consumption during header handling, ultimately triggering an OutOfMemoryError.
