CVE-2026-44893 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in Netty's netty-codec-haproxy module before 4.1.135.Final and 4.2.15.Final. When HAProxyMessage.readNextTLV() decodes a PP2_TYPE_SSL TLV, it retains a slice of the input buffer before reading the mandatory one-byte client field and four-byte verify field. A malicious TLV length below five causes the subsequent reads to throw IndexOutOfBoundsException. HAProxyMessageDecoder handles HAProxyProtocolException but not this exception, allowing it to propagate without releasing the retained slice from the pooled cumulation buffer.
