CVE-2026-45331 is a server-side request forgery (SSRF) protection bypass in Open WebUI prior to version 0.9.0. The issue is in validate_url() in backend/open_webui/retrieval/web/utils.py. The URL validation logic attempts to reject private/internal IP destinations, but its IPv6 handling is flawed: it calls validators.ipv6(ip, private=True), even though the validators library does not implement the private keyword for IPv6. That call raises a ValidationError which is falsy in boolean context, causing IPv6 addresses to be treated as valid and to pass the filter. The validation can also be bypassed using IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses such as ::ffff:10.0.0.1, which evade the IPv4 check entirely. Additionally, several reserved IPv4 ranges, including 0.0.0.0/8, 100.64.0.0/10, and 192.0.0.0/24, are not blocked. As a result, attacker-supplied URLs can target internal, local, or otherwise restricted network resources despite the intended protections.
