CVE-2026-45673 is a DNS cache poisoning vulnerability in Netty's DNS resolver module. In affected versions prior to 4.1.135.Final and 4.2.15.Final, the resolver generates DNS transaction IDs using a predictable pseudo-random number generator and, by default, reuses a static UDP source port for DNS queries. This collapses the effective entropy that normally protects DNS request/response matching and makes classic Kaminsky-style spoofing attacks feasible. An attacker able to predict transaction IDs and race or inject forged DNS replies can cause the resolver to accept malicious responses and cache attacker-controlled resolution data.
