CVE-2026-47635 is a Critical remote code execution vulnerability in Microsoft Office affecting Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word. Microsoft describes it as an access-of-resource-using-incompatible-type issue (type confusion). Supporting content indicates the flaw is in the Word rendering/document parsing pipeline used by Outlook Classic to render email content, including in the Preview Pane. A specially crafted email body, attachment, or document can cause the Word engine to interpret attacker-controlled data as a valid object or pointer, leading to memory corruption and ultimately arbitrary code execution. Although Microsoft’s CVSS vector is local (AV:L), the attack can be initiated remotely by delivering malicious content that is then processed locally by Office; the Outlook Classic Preview Pane is explicitly identified as a valid trigger path.
