CVE-2026-47759 is a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in TinyMCE affecting versions prior to 5.11.1, 7.9.3, and 8.5.1, including all 6.x releases through 6.8.6. The flaw is caused by unsafe handling of TinyMCE internal data-mce-* attributes, specifically data-mce-href, data-mce-src, and data-mce-style. In vulnerable versions, attacker-controlled values supplied in these custom attributes are not stripped or validated when content is loaded, because they are treated as benign internal metadata rather than untrusted input. During serialization and content export, TinyMCE trusts these internal attributes and copies their values back into the corresponding standard HTML attributes such as href, src, and style, overwriting values that may previously have been sanitized by the editor’s validation pipeline. This creates a trust-boundary failure between sanitization and serialization that allows malicious payloads to bypass validation and persist in stored content.

A TinyMCE vulnerability that allows abuse of prefixed source and hyperlink attributes to bypass safe settings during serialization, leading to script injection.
A TinyMCE vulnerability caused by unsafe handling of internal data-mce-* attributes during serialization, allowing unchecked values to overwrite sanitized href, src, and style attributes and bypass protocol validation.
A companion TinyMCE vulnerability disclosed alongside CVE-2026-47762; specific technical details are not provided in the content.
A stored XSS vulnerability in TinyMCE where attacker-controlled data-mce-* attributes bypass DOMPurify sanitization and are later trusted during serialization, allowing malicious href, src, or style values to be restored into output HTML.
