CVE-2026-47761 is a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in TinyMCE's media plugin. The flaw is caused by insufficient sanitization and validation of internal media-related attributes, including crafted data-mce-* values used to preserve editor state for embedded media elements. The media plugin serializes rich-media content into placeholder representations and stores original properties in custom attributes; when the saved content is later rendered, TinyMCE reconstructs live DOM elements from those attributes without adequately neutralizing attacker-controlled values. An attacker with low privileges capable of submitting or editing content can inject persistent script payloads that are stored by the application and executed in the browsers of users who later view the affected content. Affected versions include TinyMCE 5.x before 5.11.1, 7.x before 7.9.3, and 8.x before 8.5.1. TinyMCE 6.x is also affected across supported reported versions and does not receive a fix because that branch is end-of-life.
