CVE-2026-49825 is an improper URL-sanitization vulnerability in lxml and its separately maintained lxml_html_clean component. Versions of lxml before 6.1.1 and lxml_html_clean before 0.4.5 omit the namespaced xlink:href attribute from lxml.html.defs.link_attrs. Consequently, Cleaner can fail to recognize and scrub dangerous URI schemes in xlink:href attributes embedded in SVG, MathML, or similar markup, permitting attacker-controlled script URLs to survive sanitization.
