CVE-2026-50252 is a DNS cache-poisoning weakness in NLnet Labs Unbound versions 1.4.22 through 1.25.1. With SO_REUSEPORT enabled, Unbound partitions its available outbound UDP source-port space into disjoint subsets assigned to worker threads at startup. Kernel SO_REUSEPORT load balancing deterministically selects a worker based on the incoming client UDP source IP address and port. Because outbound recursive queries use only the selected worker's port subset, observation of an outbound query identifies the worker that handled the corresponding client request. An attacker can map incoming source ports for a fixed source address to worker threads, reducing the effective source-port search space and undermining UDP source-port randomization used to resist DNS cache poisoning.
