CVE-2026-5188 is a low-severity integer underflow vulnerability in wolfSSL's parsing of the Subject Alternative Name (SAN) extension in X.509 certificates. A malformed certificate can declare a SAN entry length larger than the enclosing ASN.1 sequence length. During parsing, the internal remaining-length counter can wrap due to the subtraction, resulting in incorrect handling of certificate data. According to the provided advisory context, the issue is limited to builds using wolfSSL's original ASN.1 parsing implementation, which is off by default.
