CVE-2026-5280 is a high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in the WebCodecs component of Google Chrome. The flaw affects Chrome versions prior to 146.0.7680.178 and can be triggered by a remote attacker through a crafted HTML page. As a memory-safety error, the vulnerability arises when freed memory is subsequently reused, creating conditions that can lead to memory corruption within the browser process. Google and Chromium classified the issue as High severity.
