CVE-2026-52858 is an arbitrary code execution vulnerability in Vim's Python omni-completion support, affecting builds with the +python3 interpreter enabled through python3complete.vim and legacy builds with the +python interpreter through pythoncomplete.vim, prior to version 9.2.0561. The vulnerable completion logic processes import and from statements present in the current buffer by invoking Python's normal import machinery. Because the working directory of the edited buffer is included on Python's module search path, a specially crafted Python source file placed alongside a malicious sibling package can cause Vim to import attacker-controlled code when omni-completion is triggered. Importing that package executes its top-level Python code in the context of the user running Vim.
