CVE-2026-53398 is a flaw in the Linux kernel NFS server implementation affecting the SECINFO_NO_NAME decode path. In nfsd4_decode_secinfo_no_name(), the sin_exp field was initialized only after decoding sin_style. If the incoming XDR stream was truncated before that point, the decoder returned a bad XDR error before sin_exp had been initialized. Because the relevant inline operation array was no longer cleared between RPC calls, sin_exp could retain stale union contents from a previous operation. The error cleanup path still invoked nfsd4_secinfo_no_name_release(), which could call exp_put() on a non-NULL stale sin_exp value. This creates a refcount corruption condition that can lead to a use-after-free in the NFSD server error-handling path. The upstream fix initializes sin_exp before the first failable decode step, aligning behavior with nfsd4_decode_secinfo().
