CVE-2026-53414 is a memory over-read vulnerability in Zoom Clients' annotation processing. The flaw is caused by a missing bounds check in the annotator deserialization logic for character or glyph annotation data. In the vulnerable path, the client allocates a buffer based on an attacker-controlled count value supplied in annotation protocol data, but then reads based on the actual bytes provided without ensuring the read stays within the allocated bounds. This can result in out-of-bounds reads from heap memory during processing of annotation objects received from another meeting participant over the network. The issue is reachable through Zoom's annotation feature during meetings and can affect recipients that automatically process the malformed annotation data. Reported consequences include client crashes and leakage of memory contents such as pointers and other in-memory data that may aid further exploitation.
