CVE-2026-53790 is a set of command and argument injection flaws in rsync versions before 3.5.0. Several code paths pass insufficiently sanitized values to command execution mechanisms, including handling of the RSYNC_CONNECT_PROG environment variable, daemon hooks, the exec-style rsync-ssl wrapper, and remote-shell command construction. Shell metacharacters or newline characters in attacker-controlled hostnames, hostspecs, or related values can inject additional commands or arguments.
