CVE-2026-54369 is a local privilege-escalation vulnerability in acl before version 2.4.0. The flaw affects the libacl pathname-based functions acl_get_file(), acl_set_file(), acl_extended_file(), and acl_delete_def_file(). These APIs operate on pathnames in a way that permits symbolic-link traversal: if an attacker can replace any component of a pathname with a symbolic link before or during processing by a privileged caller, the ACL operation can be redirected to an unintended target. As a result, privileged ACL reads or writes may be performed on arbitrary files or directories selected by the attacker. The issue enables unauthorized manipulation of access control lists and can be used to elevate privileges locally. Version 2.4.0 introduces safer *_at variants of the affected APIs to support symlink-safe operation relative to directory file descriptors.
