CVE-2026-55950 is a high-severity time-of-check time-of-use race condition in the Erlang/OTP ssl application, specifically the DTLS packet demultiplexing logic implemented in the dtls_packet_demux module. A DTLS server listener uses a single shared dtls_packet_demux gen_server process to map incoming UDP datagrams to the appropriate DTLS connection handler. When a client rapidly reconnects from the same source address and port and sends multiple valid DTLS ClientHello messages in quick succession, a race in the module’s internal gb_trees state handling can trigger a key collision condition that crashes the shared demultiplexer process. Because that process is shared by all DTLS associations on the listener, the failure tears down every active DTLS session on that listener rather than only the attacker-controlled connection. The issue is pre-authentication and affects OTP releases from 25.3 before 29.0.3, with fixed releases also identified in the 28.x and 27.x branches as 28.5.0.3 and 27.3.4.14, corresponding to ssl fixes in 11.7.3, 11.6.0.3, and 11.2.12.10.
