CVE-2026-56001 is an integer-overflow-driven heap buffer overflow in libXfont2 versions before 2.0.8. BitmapScaleBitmaps() uses a 32-bit variable to calculate the allocation size for scaled glyph bitmap data. A crafted PCF font with excessive per-glyph byte counts can cause this calculation to wrap, causing calloc() to allocate an undersized heap buffer that subsequent bitmap-scaling operations overwrite. The flaw affects the X server font-handling stack when it processes attacker-controlled PCF fonts.
