CVE-2026-56434 is a memory-safety vulnerability in the NGINX ngx_http_ssi_module. It can be triggered when Server-Side Includes (SSI) is enabled and a request path combines SSI processing with proxy_pass while proxy_buffering is disabled. An unauthenticated attacker able to act as a man in the middle and manipulate responses received from the configured upstream server can cause a use-after-free condition in an NGINX worker process. Vendor and downstream advisories also characterize the resulting condition as a heap buffer over-read.
