CVE-2026-57077 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in YAML::Syck for Perl, affecting versions before 1.47, in the bundled libsyck lexer logic used during YAML parsing. The flaw is in token.c, where newline_len() and is_newline() dereference the current scan pointer and, for carriage-return/line-feed handling, the following byte, without enforcing a NUL terminator or explicit buffer bounds. During block-scalar lexing at a document boundary, this allows the lexer to read one byte past the end of the heap-backed lexer buffer. The issue is reachable through the default YAML::Syck::Load() and LoadFile() parsing paths when processing untrusted YAML input containing a block scalar at a document boundary. It is described as an incomplete-fix follow-on to CVE-2025-11683 because the earlier remediation did not cover this lexer path.
