CVE-2026-58013 is a buffer over-read vulnerability in GLib in the g_io_channel_read_line_backend() function implemented in giochannel.c. When a custom line terminator longer than one byte is configured, the function can invoke memcmp with bounds that allow reading past the end of the backing GString buffer while checking for the terminator sequence. This results in an out-of-bounds read condition during line-processing operations. The flaw can disclose a small amount of adjacent memory or trigger a crash if the over-read reaches an unmapped page boundary.
