CVE-2026-58097 is a stack or heap buffer overflow in FreeBSD ppp(8)'s mp_SetEnddisc() handling of Multilink PPP endpoint discriminator configuration. The function copies a user-supplied PSN endpoint value without validating its length, allowing an oversized value submitted through the ppp(8) command interface to overwrite memory. ppp(8) is installed setuid root.

A local buffer-overflow vulnerability in ppp(8)'s mp_SetEnddisc() function. An authenticated/local user able to access the ppp(8) command interface can supply an oversized PSN endpoint value, potentially causing denial of service or arbitrary code execution with root privileges.
High-severity memory-safety vulnerability in FreeBSD ppp(8) that a malicious PPP peer could potentially exploit to execute arbitrary code as root or crash the service.
A local buffer-overflow vulnerability in FreeBSD ppp(8)'s mp_SetEnddisc() function, caused by failure to validate the length of a user-supplied PSN endpoint value. A local user with ppp(8) command-interface access may crash the service or potentially execute code as root.
