A critical vulnerability in Apache Traffic Server arises from truncation of over-long HTTP header names. When a crafted request contains a header name exceeding the implementation’s handled length, Traffic Server truncates the name rather than rejecting it, which can cause the proxy and adjacent components to interpret the request differently. This inconsistent parsing enables header aliasing, where an attacker can cause a malicious header to be treated as a different header after truncation. The resulting parser desynchronization can be leveraged for HTTP request smuggling and for bypassing security policies that rely on exact header-name handling. Affected versions are 8.0.0 through 8.1.9, 9.0.0 through 9.2.14, and 10.0.0 through 10.1.3.
