CVE-2026-62434 is a memory-management flaw in Xen's Populate on Demand (PoD) handling on x86 systems. A guest started with PoD enabled can attempt to reclaim pages that are not regular guest RAM, even though such pages should not be reclaimed through the normal guest-memory path. This can corrupt Xen's internal memory-management state. The issue affects Xen 3.4 and later, and is believed to be exploitable by x86 HVM and PVH guests configured to use PoD. PoD is enabled when a guest configuration sets maxmem higher than memory. The vulnerability undermines hypervisor memory accounting and page-state integrity, creating conditions for host instability and possible cross-guest memory safety failures.
