CVE-2026-63072 is an out-of-bounds heap write in OpenSSL CMS key unwrapping. The CMS key-unwrapping code sizes its output buffer from the unwrapped-key length reported by the cipher operation. The AES-WRAP-PAD unwrap primitive can, on an integrity-failure path, write and cleanse more bytes than that reported length. In the affected cms_kek_cipher path, this results in a deterministic eight-byte zero write immediately beyond the heap allocation during CMS_decrypt(). CMS accepts both padded and unpadded AES key-wrap algorithms, permitting an attacker to modify a key-wrap algorithm identifier in an otherwise legitimate CMS message to select AES-WRAP-PAD. The RFC 5649 integrity check subsequently fails, but the overflow occurs before failed unwrap processing completes.
