CVE-2026-63073 is a format-string vulnerability in OpenSSL CMP response validation. In ossl_cmp_msg_check_update(), OpenSSL converts a peer-controlled sender distinguished name using X509_NAME_oneline() and supplies the resulting string directly as the format argument to ERR_raise_data(). Percent-format directives in the sender DN are consequently interpreted by BIO_vsnprintf() without corresponding variadic arguments. The issue affects OpenSSL 4.0, 3.6, 3.5, and 3.4 CMP clients; OpenSSL 3.0, 1.1.1, and 1.0.2 are not affected. The CMP implementation is outside the OpenSSL FIPS module boundary.
