CVE-2026-6386 is a FreeBSD amd64 kernel vulnerability in pmap_pkru_update_range(), the routine used when applying memory protection keys to an address range. The flaw is caused by missing handling for 1GB large-page mappings created via shm_create_largepage(3). When processing page table structures, the vulnerable code always treated a page directory page entry as though it pointed to a lower-level page table page, instead of recognizing that it could represent a 1GB large-page mapping. As a result, an unprivileged user can cause the kernel to misinterpret userspace memory as a page table page and perform unintended writes through that path.
