CVE-2026-64113 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel ixgbevf virtual function network driver, in the receive-path logic of ixgbevf_clean_rx_irq(). During VEPA multicast source pruning, frames whose source MAC address matches the VF's own address are dropped by freeing the associated socket buffer and immediately continuing to the next descriptor. Because the skb pointer is declared outside the processing loop and the continue statement skips the normal pointer reset at the bottom of the loop, the stale pointer can persist into the next iteration. A subsequent code path then treats the freed skb as still valid and passes it to fragment-handling logic, resulting in dereference of freed memory through skb metadata access. The flaw occurs in NAPI softirq context and affects deployments using the ixgbevf driver with the vulnerable receive path exercised.
