CVE-2026-64507 is a Linux x86 BPF JIT hardening flaw associated with Branch Target Reuse (BTR), a Spectre-v2 variant. When JIT-generated BPF code is freed and its memory is reused, stale indirect-branch-predictor entries can remain associated with the reused address. An attacker can train an indirect-branch prediction using one JIT program, induce reuse of its code memory for another program, and trigger speculative execution at an obsolete target in the newly generated code. The speculative activity can expose secret-dependent cache state. The kernel fix enables an Indirect Branch Predictor Barrier (IBPB) flush on BPF JIT memory reuse when Spectre-v2 mitigations are in use, except where the BPF dispatcher already uses a retpoline sequence.

One of two CVEs assigned to the Branch Target Reuse (BTR) Spectre v2 variant. BTR abuses stale indirect-branch-predictor entries after JIT code is freed and new code is placed at the same address, enabling transient execution of attacker-controlled instructions and cache-based data disclosure.
