CVE-2026-6474 is an externally controlled format string vulnerability in PostgreSQL affecting the timeofday() function, with related unsafe handling also noted in pg_strftime(). A crafted time zone name can introduce percent-format sequences that are passed to snprintf() as a format string rather than treated as data. This can cause unintended interpretation of attacker-controlled format specifiers and disclose portions of PostgreSQL server memory. The issue is also described as having a related path in pg_strftime() where a limited-size output buffer could be overflowed, leading to similar crash or memory disclosure outcomes. Affected versions are PostgreSQL releases before 18.4, 17.10, 16.14, 15.18, and 14.23.
