CVE-2026-6476 is a privilege-escalation vulnerability in PostgreSQL's pg_createsubscriber utility. The flaw is caused by improper neutralization of special elements in SQL commands when subscription names are incorporated into SQL statements without quoting. In the vulnerable implementation, the drop_existing_subscriptions() logic in pg_createsubscriber concatenates a raw subscription name into statements used to disable, modify, and drop subscriptions. If an attacker can create a subscription with a crafted name from an untrusted source, that name is stored and later reused by pg_createsubscriber. When the utility next runs, the injected SQL is executed in the context of a superuser. The issue affects PostgreSQL major versions 17 and 18 before 17.10 and 18.4; versions prior to 17 are not affected.
