CVE-2026-65583 is a vulnerability in Apache CXF's OIDC relying-party token validation logic in the org.apache.cxf:cxf-rt-rs-security-sso-oidc component. In affected versions, the validator could accept self-issued ID tokens without enforcing required claim validation checks, including issuer, subject, audience, time-based validation, and sub_jwk binding. This insufficient authenticity verification allows a crafted self-issued ID token to be treated as valid under vulnerable configurations, resulting in an authentication bypass condition. The issue affects Apache CXF 4.2.0 before 4.2.3, 4.0.0 before 4.1.8, and versions before 3.6.12 in the 3.6.x line. Self-issued ID tokens are not accepted by default, which limits exposure to deployments that explicitly enable or rely on this behavior.
