CVE-2026-66039 is a signed integer overflow in FFmpeg's MACE6 audio decoder affecting FFmpeg through version 8.1.2. A crafted CAF file can supply oversized bytes_per_packet and frames_per_packet values in its desc chunk. During output sample-count computation in mace_decode_frame(), these values can overflow, causing an undersized output-buffer allocation followed by a heap out-of-bounds write. The issue was fixed upstream in commit aafb5c6.
