CVE-2026-67215 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in cJSON through version 1.7.19 affecting RFC 6902 JSON Patch processing. When untrusted patch input is applied through cJSONUtils_ApplyPatches() or cJSONUtils_ApplyPatchesCaseSensitive(), a crafted patch using add and copy operations can duplicate and graft subtrees in a way that amplifies document depth beyond the parser's normal nesting limit. In the resulting object graph, cJSON_Delete() performs recursive traversal without a depth bound, and the duplication guard in cJSON_Duplicate() permits recursion up to CJSON_CIRCULAR_LIMIT, set to 10000, which is substantially higher than the parser's 1000-level nesting limit. This mismatch allows stack exhaustion on typical thread stacks and can terminate the process.
