CVE-2026-67327 is an account takeover vulnerability in better-auth affecting versions 1.1.3 through before 1.6.22, and pre-release versions 1.7.0-beta.0 through before 1.7.0-beta.10. The flaw arises in deployments that allow open email/password registration together with passwordless authentication via magic-link or email-OTP. An attacker can pre-register an account using a victim's email address and an attacker-controlled password, leaving the account unverified. When the legitimate owner later authenticates through the magic-link or email-OTP flow, the account is marked verified, but the previously set password is not removed and existing sessions are not revoked. As a result, the attacker retains valid authentication material tied to the victim's now-verified account, enabling persistent unauthorized access.
