Azure Arc Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
CVE-2026-69399 is an elevation-of-privilege vulnerability in the exclusively hosted Azure Arc service. It is classified as CWE-441. The issue is network reachable and may be exploited with low attack complexity, without prior privileges or user interaction. Successful exploitation causes a scope change and can affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
What it means and what to do now: patch path, interim mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.
What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.
Successful exploitation enables an unauthenticated remote attacker to obtain elevated privileges across a changed security scope. The assigned CVSS v3.1 vector indicates high impact to confidentiality, integrity, and availability, potentially allowing access to sensitive resources or data, unauthorized modification of resources or configurations, and service disruption.
If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.
No separate temporary workaround is specified. Until remediation has been confirmed, minimize excessive Azure Arc permissions, review privileged role assignments and Azure Arc integrations, and monitor activity logs for anomalous API calls, resource changes, or permission modifications.
Patch, then assume compromise.
Apply the Microsoft security update or service-side remediation for Azure Arc specified in the Microsoft Security Update Guide. Because Azure Arc is an exclusively hosted service, customers should verify that Microsoft has deployed the remediation to their tenant and follow any tenant-specific update actions provided by Microsoft.
