The flaw stems from an overly permissive ClusterRole that grants cluster-admin-equivalent capabilities beyond the operator’s intended function. Reported permissions include the ability to impersonate other entities, modify Role-Based Access Control configurations, approve Certificate Signing Requests, and manage ManifestWork resources. Because the operator is assigned unnecessary administrative privileges, an attacker who can leverage the operator’s effective permissions may escalate privileges within the Kubernetes cluster.
