CVE-2026-71193 is an authorization flaw in OpenStack Designate affecting versions from 1.0.0 before 20.0.2, 21.0.0 before 21.0.1, and 22.0.0 before 22.0.1. Zone creation validation, including the _is_subzone and _is_superzone checks and the duplicate-zone database constraint, is scoped only to the target pool rather than enforced globally across relevant pools and tenants. In multi-pool deployments that use the AttributeFilter scheduler, an authenticated user can select or influence scheduling to a different pool and thereby bypass overlap protections. This allows creation of an overlapping DNS zone that conflicts with another tenant's zone, breaking tenant isolation in DNS management.
