CVE-2026-71391 is an off-by-one error in GNU Emacs for Android through version 30.2 in the TrueType variable font gvar table parser implemented in src/sfnt.c. The vulnerability affects the shared-coordinate index validation in sfnt_vary_simple_glyph() and sfnt_vary_compound_glyph(), where a strict greater-than comparison is used instead of a greater-than-or-equal check. A crafted TrueType variable font can therefore supply an index at the boundary value, bypass the intended bounds check, and cause memcpy to perform a heap-based out-of-bounds read. The flaw is reachable when Emacs loads attacker-controlled font data during rendering or parsing of content that references such fonts.
